UCA ranked 13th of all UK universities and No.1 creative specialist

CAA Partner UCA ranked 13th of all UK universities and No.1 creative specialist

The University for the Creative Arts (UCA) has been ranked in 13th position in the Guardian University Guide’s 2020 league table, becoming the highest ranked creative specialist.

This makes UCA the top creative specialist in all three major domestic league tables simultaneously for the first time: the Guardian University Guide, Complete University Guide, and The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide. On top of this, UCA occupies its highest position ever in all three tables.

This tremendous performance in the Guardian league table was underpinned by high student satisfaction rates, along with a significant growth in the university’s graduate employment rate.

UCA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bashir Makhoul, said:

“It is spectacular news that UCA has been ranked in 13thplace by the Guardian University Guide. This result joins those in the Complete University Guide and the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide in positioning UCA as the top specialist university in the country for studying creative arts, business and technology.

“This news is a testament to the incredible teaching staff, the research in their creative fields, and the close relationship we have with the creative industries”.

This news also comes on the back of The Sunday Times recently naming UCA as its 2019 Modern University of the Year.

UCA offers a range of programmes spanning the creative arts, business and technology.

The University for the Creative Arts (UCA) has capped an extraordinary year of league table improvements by achieving the award of Gold under the Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF).

TEF is managed by the Office for Students (OfS) and is designed to assess teaching, learning and outcomes at UK universities. Attaining Gold indicates that an institution is deemed to be outstanding.

UCA Vice-Chancellor Professor Bashir Makhoul said:

“We are delighted to be awarded gold in recognition of the extraordinary support we provide UCA students as they develop their creative potential on our courses.”

The TEF panel’s findings praise UCA for ensuring that students from all backgrounds receive positive outcomes, citing an ‘institutional culture which facilitates, recognised and rewards excellent teaching.’ The findings also highlight UCA’s unique approach for fostering employability, recognising: ‘an institutional strategy for employability embedded across all curricula, linked to project work and significant contact with employers that frequently engages students in developments from the forefront of professional practice.’

Earlier this month the Guardian placed UCA 13th out of all British universities, and positioned UCA as the top creative specialist. This ranking means that UCA is the leading creative specialist in all UK league tables, as well as being the Times and Sunday Times Modern University of the Year 2019.
